I had a lot of fun with this piece. The process for this illustration was pretty straight-forward. I first quickly sketched out my idea in a sketchbook, then when directly to watercolor paper with paint, no underdrawing, no construction lines, correcting my design as I went along. With a few touches of white gouache and India ink, and some softening of edges with Photoshop, BOOM! All done!
This illustration is depicting "Metropolitan" from my point of view as a child. When we would take family trips to the city, I was always in awe of the tall buildings. I would look up for so long that I would get dizzy. Good times!
It's been a while since I have participated in an Illustration Friday challenge, so since business is a bit slow right now I thought I would take it on for this week.
This illustration was created with watercolor, India ink, and a touch of white gouache.
