After the news, he publicly complained about how he has children to feed and how now he will have to take on a part time job to make ends meet. Oh, times are hard getting $70,000 a year! But seriously, I think he could have handled the news in a more mature way, perhaps making the loss into a political advantage, because, you know, this is politics! So here's some advice that I would give Mayor Silva that might allow him to handle this event in a more positive and productive way - as if he would even take time to listen to me ;)
First, always realize that how people see you means everything. If you're moping and crying about how the city counsel has taken you money then what kind of leader does that portray? Secondly, downsize to live within your means. Thirdly, welcome to the rest of Stockton. We're all working hard to provide for our families, wondering how we're going to make ends meet. Fourth, take a part time job working with the public. What a great way to make an impression in the voting public's view. Last, don't complain how making $70,000 a year isn't enough because many of us only wish we could ever make that much.
